All New 2015 Ford Figo Launched In India

The All-New, Next Generation Ford Figo Hatchback Has Been Launched In India Today, And Starts At An Introductory Pricing Of INR 429,900 For The Basic Petrol Variant (Ex-Showroom Delhi). Variants Available For Booking Spawn Six Trim Levels With Three Engine Options And Seven Colours.



The new Figo will replace its predecessor which has already been discontinued from the market, after six years of service. The Figo sold over 300,000 units in India ever since it was launched in 2009, with 60 % of them being bought by first time car buyers. With the new Figo, Ford re-enters a segement which shifted 4.5 lakh units in 2010, a number which rose to 6.2 lakh in 2015. It is estimated that by 2020, the B-segment will be 9.65 lakh unit strong.


Except from the back, the Figo looks exactly like the Figo Aspire compact sedan. Highlights include the trapezoidal Aston Martin like grille, the large, up-swept headlamps, the 14″ alloy wheels and the raked windscreen, all carried over from the Aspire. At the back, the hatchback gets a roof mounted spoiler, a “well-proportioned” tail gate with a wash/wipe feature, along with similar tail lamps like those on the Apire.


The Figo will be share its engine line-up with the Aspire, which means that the hatchback will be available with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine. These include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated, Ti-VCT petrol engine (18.16 km/l), paired to a five-speed manual transmission, good for 88 PS of peak power and 112 Nm, a 1.5 liter TDCi diesel engine (25.83 km/l) paired to a six-speed manual transmission, good for 100 PS of peak power and 215 Nm of torque, along with a 1.5 liter Ti-VCT petrol unit which will come exclusively mated to a new 6-speed, dual clutch, Ford PowerShift automatic transmission (backed by a 10-year or 100,000 km warranty). Power for the latter stands at 112 PS, while torque is rated at 136 Nm and fuel efficiency stands at 17 km/l.


Features would include MyFordDock in the lower variants, steering mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, height-adjustable seats, the Ford MyKey which provided complete parental control, and a SYNC with AppLink multimedia system. The top-end Titanium+ variant of the Figo will be only hatchback in India to offer as many as six air-bags, with even the base version featuring a driver air-bag. Cost of ownership of the Figo, claims Ford will be 22% less than its peers.
The all-new Figo is available in 7 colours – Ruby Red, Sparkling Gold, Oxford White, Tuxedo Black, Deep Impact Blue, Ingot Silver and Smoke Grey.
